June 1-30, 2011

June 1, 2011
A little bit of effort went a long way in helping remove pinecones and weeds from Sis. Rammage's yard. We enjoyed visiting with her and Agnes over ice cream and brownies afterward. Such a great day!

June 2, 2011
Our lilac bush is starting to bloom and the smell is wonderful! Time to bring some of these beauties inside :)

June 3, 2011
Spending dinner with a man from Liberia and his American wife means some amazing stories! We loved every second of Benny and Rachel's visit!

June 4, 2011
This year's Family History Conference was a great success. Lyndon and I taught a class on Organizing Your Digital library and had a full house for both of our time slots. We learned a lot and enjoyed sharing our knowledge with those who came!

June 5, 2011
Spending a beautiful Sunday enjoying a walk around our lovely city, with my beautiful family!

June 6, 2011
Time to bikeride~! Hooray for some nice weather :)

June 7, 2011
It seems like we've had an insane number of dandelions around the city this year! No spraying, maybe? Whatever it is, these little guys have made a home here :P

June 8, 2011
The school year's end means one thing...field trips! BB really loves feeding the birds at the Bird park, and the fact that daddy was able to come as a parent helper was even better!

June 9, 2011
TJ seems to really love getting her "space" organized. She doesn't let her area get too messy before getting to work cleaning it up again. This is her closet - before and after :)

June 10, 2011
Could there be any better Father's day gift than a day of golf with Lyndon's buddy then enjoying a sushi dinner afterward? I think not :)

June 11, 2011
The Elder's quorum went up against the High Priests in a rousing game of baseball. Who won?? The High Priests, of course! YES! The burgers and visiting afterward was even better then the baseball.

June 12, 2011
It seems that all of my favorite flowers bloom in June. Here is a shot of one of our day lilies. LOVE!

June 13, 2011
B asked if we could go feed some geese for our family night, so we headed out to Ipsco park to see if we could find some hungry birds. Did we ever! We found dozens of goslings and their hungry parents who were not shy about begging for some bread. FUN!

June 14, 2011

After a very cool and wet spring in Saskatchewan we finally had some summer-like weather and the kids didn't waste any time in getting the sprinkler out and swimming suit on.  Now is when we remember why we live here, for every cold day in winter there is a beautiful, warm day 6 months later!

June 15th
June means its field trip time!  JJ and her classmates went to the bird sanctuary to feed the Canadian geese and swans tones of sliced bread (their natural food, by-the-way!) They ended the afternoon at the playground near the science center and had a blast.  The best part of the day for JJ?  Riding the bus with daddy!

 June 16th
Kindergarten Orientation is provided to allow the kids to get into the school, meet their teachers and see the other kids that will be their classmates in the fall.  Since JJ has been there for the last 2 years in pre-k, she's a old pro and helped the other kids feel comfortable.

Happy Birthday in China Uncle Blaine!
The peonies and the other backyard flowers are in full bloom and we are loving being the backyard this time of year.  The girls love to pick them for mommy or to be displayed in the kitchen and we had to put  flower poaching guidelines to ensure the flower herd made it through the summer in tact with these 4 cute little monsters.

June 18th
So last winter seemed to be very difficult on the trees in the area.  Many full limbs didn't make it to spring and we needed to take them down.  Lyndon became the burly lumberjack, that had always been there just under the surface,  and with the chainsaw attacked the dead limbs with a vengeance and showed no mercy.  Now we have healthy trees and trimmed bushes but an enormous pile of wood in the backyard.  Anyone want to join him at the dump with them?  Only requirement - must have empty truck!

June 19th
Happy Father's Day!!
Lyndon's 2nd favourite job to being a husband is being a dad to 4 great girls that love him to pieces. They also have two grandpas that are included in the best in the world.

 June 20th
A friend went to digital scrapbooking and so we inherited all her supplies and the girls thought it was an early Christmas!  They loved going through everything and dividing up the spoils.

 June 21st
To help mom in the house duties, the girls are now assigned a day of the week to help prepare supper.  They've been waiting for this opportunity their whole lives as they all love cooking.

 June 22nd
We decided to be adventurous and try something new - Tony Roma ribs at home.  They were marinated in the fridge, cooked in the oven and then finished off on the grill.  It turned out to be one of the best meals at the Grunewald Cafe.

June 23rd
One of the advantages of Lyndon's employer is every year their IT department have a summer activity for everyone with games, prizes and food.  This year it was pool noodle hockey with a beach ball and pool noodles cut in half for hockey sticks.  It was lots of fun but lots of physical activity for computer programmers and database administrators!

 June 24th
These two silly sisters are two years apart but you would never guess it.  They are now the same height and the same weight and therefore share clothes and everything else.

 June 25th
The little girls went to a party and dad took the big girls to Moose Jaw for some window shopping.  They saw the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa pool, historic downtown and went to the mall.  So fun.  Maybe next time there will actually be some shopping!

 June 26th
Another example of the flowers that can be sampled in our backyard and the daughter that loves to pick them and present them to whomever will take them.

June 27th
The final pre-k home visit for JJ.  She had great teachers this year that were very involved and very supportive.  Mrs. Leuhrer and Mrs. McGreggor made this year really fun for JJ.

June 28th
The last day of school is always a great day in the eyes of children and fear and dread in the eyes of parents that get the kids full-time for the next two months.  All the kids did great this year and were all above average on their report cards. TJ even won an award for going above and beyond in helping other students.  They were rewarded with a movie night (we saw Rio and loved it) and dinner at McD's with the Northcott's.  They even got a small Webkinz toy.

 June 29th
After spending the week getting ready for the Grunewald Roadtrip 2011, mom and dad headed out to get a few last things from Walmart and then stopped at Stone Cold Creamery for a little treat.  It was our first time and finally understood the name and why it is so popular! Yum!

June 30th
First day of the roadtrip was pretty uneventful as always when traveling through southern Saskatchewan and southeastern Alberta but we arrived at Grandma and Grandpa's safe and sound and got to enjoy our niece's birthday party.
